Forceware and vista issue

Ok I installed vista for the first time today and already it is driving me crazy. I have a 8800GTS and without Nvidia drivers installed I can choose any resolution. But after install I am limited to 1024x768 max. I have spent hours reading different websites and not found a good solution. Im sure I am not alone can anyone please help?

You got my hopes up then . Spent close to three hours browsing the internet to find its a common problem with some monitors but no confirmed fix.

your worrying me though because i have ordered a gts 320mb

From what I have read it has something to do with forceware not having the specifics for my monitor and the default it sets to can't do more than 1024x768. I know my TFT is knocking on now but this is silly.

Have you tried changing the monitor type under display settings? try default monitor or plug and play and it might well let you change it
