Forcing AA in Brothers in arms Hells Highway

You could try enabling AA gamma correction in the NV CP,not sure if it'll improve things for you,but it's worth a shot.

Nvidia have released a new WHQL today,give that a whirl too.

Not sure why such a new game doesn't have it's own AA system!:confused: Criminal on the part of the developers to omit such a fundamental setting,console port I know,but still no excuse.

It's odd, I have forced 4x msaa and I seem to have no problems with bro's in arms...
Are you sure it's set at ''override application setting'' instead of ''enhance application setting'' in the aa mode ?

Lack of AA is down to the engine not the game

Also below that I found

AF can be enabled and set from 2x-16x in the SumacEngine file. Go to Documents/My games/BIA Hells Highway/SumacGame/Config/SumacEngine/Open Sumac Engine in note pad and under "system settings" look for "trilinear" and change it to true, then look for "MaxAnisotropy" and change that anywhere from 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, etc.

Antialiasing Support: UT3 uses a technique called Deferred Lighting, which doesn't allow for the use of normal Anti-Aliasing, at least in DX9 mode. Epic has stated that when running in DX10 mode in Vista, the game will allow the use of AA in the future. For the moment there are two ways to force Anti-Aliasing in the game:

If you run a GeForce 8 series card or newer you can force AA through the Nvidia Forceware Control Panel using the UT3 game profile in the latest Forceware, or rename the UT3.exe file found under the \Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\ directory to BioShock.exe, and use the BioShock profile.
You can apply a brute force method called Supersampling - which works on pretty much any game - using a utility such as nHancer to set 'AA Compatibility mode 45' for the game profile. This is not recommended, as it has a major performance impact and can also cause visual glitches.

You know this game has turned out to be a bit of a disappointment :( My mate bought a copy two days back based on some reviews he had read online about some of the 'features' included. Well it turns out these so called 'features' didn't make it into the gold version of the game due to the fact it was "dumbed" down for the console market.

They were there originally - check yourself if you feel inclined. Features like go prone, gun sway and volumetric smoke are missing - yet you can clearly see them in the youtube vids that have been posted. My mate did a bit of digging and it turns out that some of these options were taken out of the pc version due to compatibility problems with the Xbox 360. Yet the features are even on the official website as included.

This could also explain why AA is broken or missing from the menu, or more than likely as above.

...

A statement I never understood about UE3 and no need to rename anything, forcing AA in the BIA: HH profile in the nvidia panel just works, same with bioshock, and any otehr UE3 game... The whole AA thing is a lie as when you set the nv panel to ''override application setting'' and set 8xCSAA I can definitely see AA work like it should...

Interesting, cheers for that, will try that later, think I'll take a look at the config files too. Just installed the 178.24s drivers too.................

Spent some time tweaking, now running 4xAA and 4xAF, no jagglies and game runs smoother ;) May try for 8xAF next, characters look more detailed and body parts linger for 5 mins now, also turned down LCD brightness and in game gamma so darker and less cartoony..........

Nvidia Control Panel settings

AF 4x
AA Mode - Override App
AA 4x
AA Trans - Multisampling
Force Mipmaps - Trilinear
Text Filt LOD - Clamp
Text Filt Qual - High Quality

Config changes as follows applied to below file after first making a copy of the file, then after applying the changes made the file read-only

\My Documents\My Games\BIA Hells Highway\SumacGame\Config\SumacEngine.ini

[Engine.Engine]
bDisablePhysXHardwareSupport=False
TimeBetweenPurgingPendingKillObjects=600

[Engine.GameEngine]
bSmoothFrameRate=True
MinSmoothedFrameRate=30
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=120

[Engine.Client]
MinDesiredFrameRate=60.000000

[SystemSettings]
EnableHighPolyChars=True
Trilinear=True
MaxAnisotropy=4
