Forcing custom resolutions..?

Apologies if this is a silly question.

Will forcing resolutions via my GPU beyond my native monitors 1920x1200 res result in better visuals when gaming..?
For instance sharper textures, better aliasing etc.

LCD monitors should ideally only be run at their native resolution. If you want to game at a higher resolution you should buy a monitor with a higher native resolution
