Forcing IP without router

Hi,

At the moment my router has locked out access to the configuring settings where I used to be able to specify where the ports I have opened would be forwarded to. I am just wondering if I can force my IP to a certain value on my computer without the router interfering?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Network Connections > Properties of connection > Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Properties > Use the following IP address.

However if the router is using DHCP and more pc's connect then it is highly likely that it will attempt to assign a new client the same IP as you are using, you really need to get into the router settings.

It won't give out an IP that's already in use, though if you can't get into the router's web interface how are you going to forward the port?

I've seen more than one router give out an IP via DHCP that is already in use due to it being configured manually on the client, must be all the rubbish routers I've had the pleasure of working with.
