Trying to help a mate out, his engine sounded like a bag of nails, so I said coil pack, as it turned out one of the plugs on existing had clearly had some sort of moisture damage as it was clearly corroded so put a brand new ford item on.
Started up fine thought it was fixed but just rung him, only to be told as soon as it warmed up it is running like a bag of nails again.
I can only really think of two other things as he sais engine management light is just flickering now instead of permanently on.
These would be either throttle position sensor or faulty injector any other possibles have put on my diagnostics first of all and got error codes p0302 and p0400 these are both pointing to a misfiring cylinder which I already know.
Thanks for any help, I am pretty competent myself but don't hurt to ask on here in case it am missing something.
Hmm just thought could it be the MAF

Assuming this engine has the HT leads going to it, then replace them.

The rust on the plug is a common thing on ford engines, but also worth replacing the leads while you are there as it can corrode the bottom of the lead too.
New leads and plugs should have said

Would you think this would make it run like a bag of nails once warm, I have checked everything else now

Yeah potentially, if it's stuck open. A friend of mine had a mk4 Golf with similar issues when the EGR valve kept getting stuck open thanks to tiny little chunks of metal (the origins of which seemed quite sinister so he got rid of the car pretty sharpish after that!)

Seems to be running now, took plug out of the offending cylinder was abit oily cleaned it.
Put it back in and it still ran rough took it for a drive after 20 odd miles it suddenly burst into life and all is well again.

Sounds very similar to the symptons an Astra I owned showed when the EGR valve kept getting stuck open.

Rough as nails then all of a sudden fine, only to to be rough as nails again a couple of days later.
