Hi all.

Been looking at various cars and one I see in many a car park is the C-Max. (05 plate or thereabouts)

Strangely, I quite like the look of them. I like how the rear seats can be removed fairly easily and the boot space with this is huge (will be a big help when moving into my first home)

I see they come in a variety of models, I'd be looking at diesels, now they do these in 1.8 tdci or 2.0 tdci form, my mum has a focus 1.8 tdci and the engine was bullet proof, albeit unrefined and had no pull in it.

I know to avoid focus 1.6 tdci's as ive heard they are Renault engines and are just known to be problematic.

Is the 2.0 tdci the best to go for here? Anyone got one that would care to comment on C-Max's in general?

A set of focus St wheels certainly wouldn't go a miss either.

Cheers

Steve

10k+. Depending on the holidays and things.

I run a diesel at the minute. Getting around 550 to a tank so would hope for something nearer that than the 250 I used to get in my turbo petrol lol.

I have had three C-Max's for work the first was the 1.6 tdci ran great until it needed a replacement turbo at 100K,expected. Next 2 were petrols 1.6 & 1.8, around 32mpg each.
Great cars especially if you look after them yourself, parts and servicing are very cheap. Make sure you get the zetec, the L is soviet spec.

do zetecs come with cruise control? kind of a deal breaker for me as ive seen some models do and some dont (cba with retrofitting, rather buy one up to spec)

to be fair ive seen some 08 plate titanium's (top spec) for around 2.5-3k which is very reasonable for a young(ish) car
