Ford dashboard unlock

Thanks for that...it seems handy. I shall try this. Anymore nifty info like this for the Focus?

I've known about the guage unlock thing for some time - the speed thing is useful, although perhaps not as accurate as a GPS (how for instance would it know if you changed wheel size), it has to be more accurate the the analogue readout....

There is also a diag mode for the climate control as fitted to the Mondeo that I can post if needed.

Unless desperate, do not pay for this kind of info.

I'm not sure if the autolocking thing works on the pre-facelift Mk3 Mondeo - would be interested to know if any of you guys have any luck.

edit: one for the mk2 mondeo (and maybe mk1 focus if they share common alarm components....)... open a door and look for the door ajar switch. Press it in and out 10 times to active the alarm test. This will sound one sound of the horn for each time you open or close a door/the boot/the bonnet to let you know it is all working. To switch off, simply start the car, and then turn off again.

Another for mk2 Mondeo with trip computer. Hold down the button on the right of the trip computer for about 5 or so seconds, and it'll enter a diagnostic mode. Press the button to cycle through functions such as the fuel left in the tank (in gallons), whether headlights are on or off (indicated by Hi or Lo), SPD counter increasing (car uses this value to work out the vehicles speed), LCD segment test, etc etc.

The speedo was GPS accurate when I tested it (had the GPS running too) in my Fiesta

The actual speedo, or the digital readout from unlocking the dash?

If you mean the actual speedo, I'm quite shocked (unless you've changed the alloy/tyre size and it happened to adjust the margin of error in the correst way to make it pretty much spot on).

Every car I've ever been in with a GPS has underread.

In my Mk3 Mondeo it underreadys by around 6% (says 100 when doing 94) and was about the same in my mk2.

I should work - I had it working on my old 2002 Mondeo. ISTR it took me about 3 goes to get it right - you've got to be quick!

I'm afraid the Guage test and the Unlocking thing are Mk3 only.

The alarm test (as posted a few posts ago by me) and also the trip computer diagnostic mode (if the ST200 has trip... does it?) will work, but that's it I'm afraid.

the speedo on my fiesta mk5 and now on my focus are along way out. 70mph on the speedo is around actually 65mph true speed on the GPS.

The digital unlcok thingy is interesting for a few go's, but seen as you can't leave it permanently on and have to reset the milage counter each time you will soon get bored with it!

The best features I have found as mentioned above are the auto door lock facility, and slso the only unlock drivers door with first press on button on remote key fob :)

This is on an 02 Focus btw :)
