Does anyone know what the smallest engine is in an 05 spec fiesta? because Im sure I have got it in my hire car.
I had to take the clio to the garage to have them sort out a loose drivers seat and rewire the stereo, and they gave me a Ford Fiesta Zetec hire car.

I havent bothered to look under the bonnet, but I cannot believe how slooooow this thing is. My 1.2 punto sporting would out-pace this car, and to make it even worse, I got whooped off the lights by a girl in a Purple Ka (not even a SportKa). The car is actually ok to drive, and a change from the clio, as I do not feel the need for speed in this, as there is no bloody speed. It struggles to hit 35 in 2nd gear!!!!!!

1.25 for petrol and 1.4TDCi for diesel with the diesel being the slower.

The slowest engine being the 1.3 petrol though.

You sure the hire car is running correctly? I'm not saying it's a fast car, but mine pulls about 55-58mph in second. I think the car is about 74bhp, so shouldnt be that slow.

I had a hire car once where they'd stuck a block of wood (really shoddy job) under the accelerator, presumable to stop people thrashing it. Worth a look. I find the 1.25 fiesta verging on 'fun' at times :)

I have managed to get it past 40 now in 2nd gear. he handling has suprised me....in that is it actually quite good. The turn in isnt very fast, but its fairly responsive, and with a reasonable throttle response, it does make for a bit of a fun car to drive as long as you thrash it :) Its only done about 2500 miles on it, so it may still need loosening up.

Glad to hear you're having fun! The engine seems ok after about 3000rpm. When looking for my car, i test drove a lot of cars around the 1.2-1.4 litre mark, and found the fiesta to be just about the best. What kind of revs is yours producing at 40mph in 2nd? think mine's just over 4000...

Ive got 50 out of it now in 2nd gear, foot flat, to the rev limiter. Its a 5 door, so is slightly heavier than the 3 door and a lot heavier than the old fiestas with the same engine. Makes such a whine when you take it up to high revs. Quite comical seeing the looks I get from pedestrians when I drive past them doing 6k rpm in 1st gear.

But I want my clio back :(

Don't under estimate the KA ;)

My mate has one (1.3) and it can do 90mph in 3rd

I know! I had a hire KA once and I was getting 90 out of 3rd....no one ever believed me though! I got scared when I hit 100 in 4th though. Felt like it was going to thro itself off the road :p

My Fiesta does an indicated 93mph in 3rd, didn't think it was anything special.
