Hey guys,

My focus mk1 ('01) has started to randomly lock the doors and boot with no warning or prompt.
Its happened a few times and I've been meaning to ask since the first occurrence.
I'm just wondering if there is a wiring issue or something happening.

Its happened twice on the motorway which scared me at first lol

Happened about 6 times now, 5 time when the car is in motion and once the other day when I was just in a car park.

Ever heard of this? Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Em

MK1 Focus door locks are notrious for being a bit flaky in cold weather. Also, some later models have anti hijack which locks the doors once your speed gets above a certain level, you amy have this enabled.

When the weather was very cold, my door locks were quite unreliable. Although they never unlocked themselves, I did have them randomly locking when driving along and once or twice when sitting still.

I cant Google it for you myself, but Ive seen the issue crop up several times on Ford forums and the like.

Ive enabled the 'anti-hijack' locks on mine. The doors auto lock when the car moves above 5mph IIRC.

Have a google on how to do it, then maybe enable and disable it, see if that clears it?

There's also another feature which I did have on for a while, where if you press the unlock button on your key once, it only unlocks the drivers door, and when you push the button a second time it unlocks the rest of the doors.

This was quite useful when people were arguing over who was 'shotgun' :D

Hmmm I don't think i have any of these systems tbh.
Its the base model so doesn't have very many bells and whistles.

Not convinced it a speed thing as its happened when going slow, and fast and as i said not moving at all.
Could it be the central locking system being activated by a faulty key fob?
