Hi all.

Just picked up my car from the body shop after my last thread (someone leaving a nice big dent in my door and driving off), which has left me feeling £500 lighter. On picking up the car one of my bulbs has decided to give up the ghost, just to sweeten the whole thing. :D

This is my normal dipped bulb, not my side light.

Firstly, does anyone know the correct fitment... H1, H7 etc? It is a normal halogen bulb not a HID system. Secondly, I'm interested in upgrading to decent bulbs, I've heard Osram nightbreakers recommended? Lastly, where is the best place to buy some?

PS. Are these bulbs actually any better than the standard bulbs?

Thanks for any help. :)

I personally find them better. Take a look at powerbulbs.com (i think it is) for the correct bulbs and then go buy them off the famous auction site as they're about half price from the same company on there.

Put some Osram nightbreakers in my tiered old golf mk2 headlamps, and WOW what a difference, really clean while light. Seriously for £12 from the bay they have to be the best bang for buck.

However as any mk2 owners will tell you, the headlights are pretty shocking at the best of times so maybe on a slightly nicer car you might not notice :p

Take the bulb out, the type will be stamped on the bulb. Or go to Halfords, they have a flipchart that tells you the bulb type.

I think it's probably an H1 or H7.

H7 or 477 for dipped and H1 or 448 for main. The whole lamp unit has to come off the car to change them mind but its easy enough - handbook will explain how!
