Does anyone know why the Ford Focus (mine is an 06 plate) has no instant mpg readout on the trip computer ? Average mpg is present but the readout scrolls straight past where instant mpg should be. I`ve searched around the net a bit and most people say it`s absent, but some others say it can reappear if you do 500miles without resetting the av mpg (it sounds unlikely but that`s what it said.....).
One source said it`s possible to get the instant mpg turned on but I took the car to South Yorks Autos Diagnostics (who can gain access to the computer) and they said they didn`t know how to do it.
I`m fairly keen to get the instant mpg switched on, I`m sure that feature helped me get 57mpg out of a hire Ford Ka when we were touring round Shetland, and there aren`t any dual carriageways in Shetland so that was pretty astounding economy !
I`d actually go further, I reckon if all new cars had an instant mpg readout permanently displayed on the instrument panel it`d probably cut the amount of fuel used in the country by 10% !
