Ford Focus Owners

I was just wondering what sort of MPG, and more importantly real terms, such as miles per tank or maybe if I put in £10, I'll get about x amount of miles.

I'm just trying to see if the 1.6 Petrol engine is similar to my Mam's 1.25, according to parkers its identical, getting 40MPG. Which is equiv. to roughly 100 miles for £10.

It'll be interesting to hear what TDCi owners get and if there are any TDDi owners and what their views are

Probably not a lot of help but I own a Ford Focus 2.0L Petrol, and the readout says I get between 30 and 32 mpg. That's with mainly short journeys around b-roads and dual-carriageways.

I've not owned the car long (got it last wednesday), but I filled it with £45 of fuel, and have done 180 miles on just over half a tank. 100 of those miles was a 100 mile journey of all road types (wanted to test the car out).

I usually get 32mpg, about 10% is city driving, 80% is B-roads with Traffic lights and 10% Motorway, I usually fill it up after 400 miles as the trip computer is beeping as I have ~40 miles to go

Whenever I have more Motorway miles I get close to 40mpg (but not 100% sure as I never did in depth calculation)

I have a 100bhp Focus Wagon 1.6 Petrol from 2002

I get maybe about 100 miles/£10@98p litre.
All city driving, no motorway cruising.
Tdci sport.

I reckon I get just over 30mpg from my 1.6 but thats mainly town driving.

About 40mpg on my 1.8 TDCi...

But its not run in yet, and thats quick driving.

once you run it in, u should get anywhere from 45 - 55 mpg, maybe almost 60 if morotrway cruising

2005 Focus 1.8 - 22mpg.
2006 Focus ST (2.5 Turbo) - 23mpg.

Either my 1.8 was broken, or I thrashed it everywhere to make it move.

Just seen a nice Ford Focus 1.6 3 Doors with Climate Pack, 49k miles, 12 Months MOT and 6 Months Tax in Silver on a Y Plate 2001 for £3950. Shame I can't afford one just yet, I bet come a few weeks time I can't find a decent example like this

I would have hoped you'd see that on a motorway run. Driving at a constant 85 in the Cupra R im currently managing 33MPG (and I "think" that would put me just inside spooling the turbo up).

I get 44mpg average @ a steady 70mph with a 2.0 Zetec - so 1.6 Zetec should easily be capable.

1.6 Zetec

I get between 195 to 225 miles for £20 of petrol. Mainly A and B road driving, I haven't been on a long trip on the motorway for ages so I can't say what I'd get at cruising speed.

Personally I'd just buy the 2 litre - it's not really any more thirsty in terms of actual cost per month to run, and it doesnt cost much more to buy and insure.

I get ~30-32 on 70% B-road and 30% town driving (my uni treck and work), ~35 when driving along an airstrip at 85-90, and ~38 when on the motorway at 70

Test Drive at least the 1.6 and 1.8 (2.0 as well if insurance isn't too high).

Many find the 1.6 fine, they call it revy. Which it is, but all that means is that it's a bit gutless moving off.

I wish I had got the 1.8 instead, but I've got a different car now so the focus is going anyway.

Still all engines are good fun to drive.

i went from X regs micra 1.0S to 2002 (52) ford focus 1.6 zetec 5 doors with AC, to be honest, i cant tell the difference in MPG, i usually get around £10 per 100 miles on both cars i owned. with micra i have to revving its nuts off to get moving properly

with focus, change gear at 3k revs still quicker than micra at 6k revs.

i managed to get 540 miles from the tank (£43) on 100% motorway once! very good

insurance only cost £3 more than micra!!

the 2L focus is only IG8, which is the lowest 2L iirc, thus making it ridiculously cheap

The 2L has a half decent bit of grunt to it too, wont break and records but its certainly enough to have a bit of fun in

Last tank full got me 291 miles on exactly £40 .. which if my maths is correct works out at 31.5mpg. Thats on the 2.0, half steady motorway, half ragging the living daylights out of it on A/B roads.
