Right I have no idea of costs, but garage has just quoted me £250 to replace front pads and discs (both sides) and replace a rear leaking brake cylinder. Does that seem ok? My mate said he got his Jags breaks replaced for less than £150, so I thought the Focus would be even cheaper!

Cheers :)

Pads and discs can be bought frome ebay for less than 50 quid delivered. Not fancy doing it yourself?

I'm not that type of person to be honest! Totally rubbish at that sort of thing and don't know any mates who can do it. Just want to make sure I'm not being ripped off.

well say you can get your pads and discs for 50 quid, a proper mechanic can have both sides replaced within an hour, so an hours labour.

£100 to do the front brakes if your proved the parts.

Not sure about the other work which needs doing though.

total rip-off. I got mintex pads discs and shoes and wheel cylinders from fleabay and took it to nationwide autocentre and had them fit them for £100, so all in is was about £175 for my dads focus

just got the estimates, look like the brake cylinder was more than I thought, as the brake quote is as follows:
Labour: £49.00
Discs (2x): £59.98
Pad Set: £33.00
Vat: £24.85
Total: £166.83

So not too bad, I guess?

yeah they fixed that as part of the MOT, but just paid insurance and what not so my wallet can't take another bashing. Said my brakes are good for 2k or 3k more, so I will book it in a few months down the line.

get them to change the wheel cylinders, the seals perish and they seep fluid after a few years, you might as well get it done.

Pads look pricey if they are bog standard ones, otherwise looks good
