hi, I have to get a wav (wheelchair accessible vehicle) and what to know how the system on the new tourneo connect zetec intelligent speed assist is turned on/off if it doesn't come with cruise control and speed limiter as standard

I would have expected this to also need cruise control to work..

My Ford focus ST has the built in camera that reads the speed limit signs and displays them on my dashboard and it not very accurate at all..;)
I have to laugh when am driving down a 35mph limit road and the speed limit display on my dashboard is saying the speed limit is 110mph...:D

You can see the speed limit display on my focus ST dashboard in this picture

On my Mondeo it's rarely wrong, even picks up smart motorway speeds.

I will say the VW implementation works very well, I would say it picks up 90% of the speed limit signs

The only ones mine sometimes misses is the overhead ones on the motorway which are suggested speeds. You know the amber signs. Definitely nearer 99% accuracy.

Because it really just sounds like an advanced cruise control that keeps your car speed at the speed limits without the driver needing to press the throttle..

Instead of you manually setting a cruise control speed the car is setting the speed itself..

if you’ve activated the system via steering wheel-mounted buttons, the engine management system will restrict the supply of fuel, preventing acceleration even if you increase pressure on the throttle.

The pedal becomes so unresponsive, you can almost press it through the floorpan but the S-Max won’t break its self-imposed limit. Ford has engineered a kick-down over-ride, but you must kick like a mule to activate it. The system doesn’t appear to use the brakes: if you pass from a 40 to 30mph zone, for example, ISL gradually throttles back your speed until you’re legal. Smooth stuff.
But am not 100% sure if you do need to hold the throttle down at all or not

It's not a cruise control at all and you still need to press the throttle - it's a speed limiter.

Yes it uses a camera and gps maps to set the car to the speed limit and wont let you go higher. Totally separate to cruise control.
