Ages ago Fox did a thread like this for his 530i, I thought it was a good idea and that I would do the same for my Mondeo 2002 1.8l since they are so often recommended in the 'spec me a car threads'.

The car was originally my Dad's but I was there with him every step of the way as he test drove, bought it etc.

Bought for £10,000 it was one owner and had done 11,000 miles, and I will list the costs to run the car from then to now (8yrs) - just thought it would be nice for people to see how much they cost to run etc.

Tax: £1680
Servicing+MOT:£3204 (breakdown below)
1 - £210
2 - £598
3 - £188
4 - £200
5 - £210
6 - £451
7 - £338
8 - £137
9 - £560
I bought car off my Dad for £900 which is the amount he was offered for part ex.
10 - £312
Petrol: No idea but averages 37mpg

Car has now covered 127,000 miles and will be due for a service fairly soon.

For the benefit of 'uv', thats how I hold the wheel :p

I had originally planned to get rid of the car the moment I had enough money to buy something I actually really wanted, but now I'm not so sure.

After driving I was utterly amazed at how well it handled going quickly round country lanes; it was a joy purely because it just felt so solid and yet had plenty of feel through the steering wheel. It seemed quick as well, although the car I drove before that was a 1.1 Hyundai Getz which did 0-60 in around 16secs :p and was far from solid.

Basically, I'm starting to fall in love with it :o, so it could be a while before I decide to move on...

Happy 8th Birthday Mondeo

Oh btw, if you spotted the tow bar, it was used to carry bikes, I'm not a caravanner :D

For 8yr/o, the steering wheel is pretty immaculate - my Mondeo is 7yr/o and the silver paint on the little 'spokes' has rubbed off a fair bit. Maybe it's just the way I/the previous owner drives though :)

Those pictures were taken in august 09 (hence the sun :D) but no nothing has worn off it, the interior pic quality is pretty awful, the seats are far blacker than that

Nothing I wouldnt imagine? Why would anything not work?

The electric seat, very very annoying when your very tall, took me a good 40mins to lower the seat to the height required for myself, I'm 6ft 4, my Dad isn't even 6ft :p

Also some strips on the front quick clear windscreen on the left hand side but thats it.

I have a near identical car albeit +15k and have a growing list! :(

Nothing serious; fuel gauge is empty when it says 1/4, CD player cuts out sometimes if you turn the lights on, various rattles from dodgy bits of trim

Well I have none of those issues, and I very much hope it stays like that, the lock plays up in cold sometimes but I can let it off for that
