Ford service plan

just bought a 3yr old ecosport from frauds 9k on the clock.

They've quoted is a service plan, 3 years services, mots, including all parts and vat.

£880.

Seems steep to me. I've never been one to get previous cars serviced but never had anything remotely new. Plus our finance jobby says it needs to be serviced (doesn't have to be frauds though)

My question is £880 steep for main dealers services and mots for 3 years? Apparently 1 of the services is a major one!???

Help would be appreciated.

Meh, I'd budget say 200 for each minor service and up to 300 for a major from a dealership.

More to the point who buys a brand new car and puts 3k on it in a year...

What intervals do major services occur?

Think it's every 3 years. Depends on the vehicle, I know on my Leon there is a longlife option which would make it every 2 services (it's complex).

On my old Fiesta, it was every 3 years so I'd expect that would be the same as you.

At 4 years old you can use Ford's motorcraft 4+ servicing - £149 minor / £199 major. So for servicing alone you would be at £500 (minor->major->minor). 3x MOT = £100 or so

Not sure what the other £280 is covering? parts? service parts will be included with a service, only other things will be consumables like pollen filter etc that aren't covered as standard, but are no where near that much.

That sounds like a better deal but the car only turns 3 in November. It needs its first mot and 3rd year service in November.

Sounds like it's a better option to just pay for them at the time.

Every time I've had an mot at my little local garage it's £45 a time. Where do you get 3 mots for £100?

I'm guessing the likes of quickfit, nationwide, Halfords should be avoided?

I paid less than that for 5 years worth of main dealer servicing on my 5 Series. That seems incredibly expensive for a Ford Ecosport.

£880 is way too much.

It will need a major service in November, followed by 2 minors, the a major as long (as you do less than 12.5k/year). A major on an Ecosport should be around £200-£250. Shop around because prices vary significantly between dealers. Independent garages will do it cheaper.

The 4+ scheme has changed now, its £149 for a service including an air or pollen filter change. There is no 4+ major service. MOT is £30 with a service.

All Ford servicing comes with a year/12.5k of full European breakdown cover which is a decent benefit.

Just called them to see cost of a single service. 3rd year service is £352 including parts and labour and £54 for an mot.

The only real difference iirc for the 4+ major was it included spark plug change for petrol and ??? for diesel. £50 should cover a spark plug change at the same time I would have thought (although not something I need to worry about until next year, as only just had a 4+ minor service done)

Indeed - I would say that's worth £60 or so if you were to buy it separately from AA/RAC etc, which personally makes Ford Main Dealer servicing (or motorcraft 4+ at least), a cost effective option.

@joelk2 https://www.etis.ford.com/fordservice/serviceScheduleForm.do; will show you the service schedule, and what should be done at each.

I got my fiesta st-3 64 plate from evans halshaw. Paid for a 3 year service plan the same as yours, was £426 after light haggling. That's stupidly expensive for an ecosport.

Go to another dealer because that's taking the ****.

https://secure.ford.co.uk/OSB will show prices from local dealers. For example a major service for my Mondeo within 25 miles ranges from £165.81 and £436!

Cheers for link. Shows my local at £295 for a major, cheapest within 25 miles is £292 does that price include parts, labour and VaT? Online chat told me £350 for the major service.
