We have a Fiesta MK6 TDCI which has done around 35k, 56' plate.
A while ago we noticed a problem with it. When selecting 2nd gear (from third), it would 'pop out' into neutral when using the gear to slow the car down.
This was reported to Ford within the warranty period and they took a look at it for us (this was around 3 months ago). They said they couldn't find a problem, but they adjusted the (could be wrong but I think it was the sync cable). The problem didn't crop up again until last week, only now the car is three weeks out of warranty.
We phoned Ford and they offered to take a look at it and booked us in for a diagnosis. The car was looked at today and it seems the synchromesh in the gearbox needs replacing/repairing - costing us £975. They offered to take this down to £750 as a goodwill offer. If the works needs to be done, I can get it sorted for a lot cheaper than that!
Now, I may be wrong here so please correct me on this, but as the fault was reported within the warranty period and NOT fixed by them in the first instance, surely they should stump up for the repair? Let me know your thoughts!
