So last night i decided to sit down and watch city of god as i had nothing but good reviews about it and i was not left disappointed. Despite the subtitles i found it to be an exceptional movie. So i've now decided i'm going to broaden my range of movies and next on the list of foreign movies are:

Waltz at Bashir
Rec
The Baader Meinhof Complex
Run Lola Run

So what other foreign movies do you ocuk people recommend? :)

Akira
Audition
Tetsuo, the Iron Man
Delicatessen
Amelie
Bellville Rendez-vous
Das Experiment
The Lives of Others
Pan's Labyrinth
Abre los ojos (remade as Vanilla Sky)
Old Boy
Ringu
Battle Royale
Christiane F
Infernal Affairs (remade as The Departed)
Irreversible
Lady Snowblood (QT borrowed a lot from this to make Kill Bill)
Let the Right One In

Pan's Labyrinth
Un Prophet
Let the Right One In
Amelie
Bicycle Thieves
Downfall

The Jacques Tati box set is excellent as well.

Jean de Florette
Manon Des Sources
La Reine Margot

La Haine
Danton
The Three Colors Trilogy
The White Ribbon
Babette's Feast
The Battle of Algiers
Cinema Paradiso
Il Postino
Fitzcarraldo
Aguirre: The Wrath of God
All About My Mother

I see no one has mentioned City of God. Try Life is Beautiful as well if you get time.

I'll mention Raajneeti as well - I liked it but it got absolutely panned I think. It's pretty long mind, only film I've seen at the cinema that had a break in the middle.

Looking through my DVD collection here's a few more:

Das Boot
36
Amores Perres

And the following if you like martial arts films plus a random John Woo film:
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Fearless
Ong Bak
Hero
House Of Flying Daggers
Drunken Master
Project A
A Better Tomorrow
Iron Monkey
Mongol

Keep them rolling through if there are anymore. Going through the current ones have seen a few which i totally forgot about such as ong bak, crouching tiger hidden dragon, spirited away, princess monoke apocalypto and kite runner have got suryiothai but cant watch it unless i get my other dvd player because of buying it in thailand...

Theres a movie that someone mentioned to me a long time ago but i cant remember what its called, just that its japanese and there was a scene where tarantino was in awe wishing he had done it himself anyone know what its called? sorry for the vague description.. i think its a horror
