Hi guys,

I have an O2 Access Box IV. I want to play Supreme Commander Forged Alliance, but it is impossible to connect to multiplayer games. It simply never connects. I've tried opening ports, etc etc - nothing seems to work. All other games work perfectly, its just this one.

How can I fix this?

There is, yes. I've placed my PC into it to no avail. Oddly I can connect to some games - I picked a random one and it worked - but not others.

Sigh.

I just swapped it for a Netgear DG834GT with DGTeam custom firmware. I can now get into games perfectly but... the lag is absolutely horrible. As soon as I quit, the game stops being laggy for everyone else.

I dont get it, I dont get these problems with ANY other game :(

is there a way to disable the SIP ALG firewall rule, this can and does create lots of lag with games.

I've disabled the firewall.

It's completely bizarre. I can play game I want no problems but as soon as I get into a Forged Alliance game, it lags the entire game out for everyone and I get horrible packet loss on Teamspeak. As soon as I quit the game the lag goes away for all the other players and Teamspeak is back to normal.

ANY other game I play has no issues

Sounds like the ISP is blocking it somewhere further down the line for some odd reason.

Do you have just a simple modem you can try?

Hey Fox,

the router is absolutely useless but I've used it for around two years so some tricks I find that are useful are :

Put your firewall level on standard, enable upnp on the router, don't have any exceptions on the firewall, after one or two tries (if it feels like it) It will open the necessary ports itself

Use the telnet commands to stop IDS as well as open the necessary ports

Use telnet commands to map a certain Ethernet port to be DMZ then connect via that one.

The forum O2Users (unofficial forum) has some good tutorials for all of the things I have listed above,

If all else fails get another router that's compatible because tbh the o2 wireless box is just appalling.
