What about this

Anyone else notice this a lot on women? It's called Hyperextension

2 friends of mine (twins, both male) have freaky knees/elbows that do that.

they've also got ****ed up fingers that can do a zig-zag :S

Haha, sure is a guilty pleasure watching this tripe, but it sure is funny at times. At 30 odd years old, i'm glad i can keep in touch with my younger inner self.

It's just evolution in action. In a few thousand years they will be able to bend their arm so far that they will be able to itch their back. A handy skill I'm sure you'll agree.

My understanding is that it's called the Elbow Setting Angle. There's a noticeable difference between men and women as to the angle that the angle that the elbow bends to, when the arm is at maximum extension. The reason is believed to be a simple one: hang your angles straight by your sides with the palms open and facing backwards. Press you elbows in as far as they will go. To point out the obvious, since women's hips are bigger, they need to be able to bring the elbow in further before it touches their sides, and thus their arm bends further back. The only mystery is: why on earth this is an evolutionary pressure.

my arms do that as well...

it actually locks so when I'm at the gym when the weight is pushed up when I lock my elbows the wrong way its as if im not holding up any weight (ie the joint and bone are holding the weight not the muscles) - almost as if im resting.. it obviously only works in some positions..
