and he can't remember his secret answer either.

We have tried sending to an alternative email address but he says he never entered an alternative email address. I can't figure out how to change the alternative email address to mine so the reset info is sent to my hotmail.

It says it will send the password reset to the email he has forgotten his password for but how do we access it?

I've never had to deal with this with hotmail as I've always remembered my password. I just can't understand why this is so hard to fix.

log into hotmail and change your preferences in the settings bit. But since you can't log in... You are supposed to set up second email Before you forget your password.

Essentially you are asking if there is anyway to 'crack' into a hotmail account you don't know the password for. The answer is no.

I did this once and I still managed to get my account back so don't lose hope yet! There is an email address somewhere which you can email (from a different account obviously) and they will ask you loads of question about your account (what folders you have, when you created the account etc). I'm not sure what it is off the top of my head so have a search for it. I can remember it being very well hidden at the time. If they deem that to be enough proof that you own the account, they will send a password reset email to the account you sent the request from (i.e. one you can access).
