Hold shift while booting after bios post to showthe bootloader menu.
Bootthe first recovery mode entry (single user mode)
Choose to get a root shell
Type: passwd [your_short_user_name]
Enter password
Reboot
Shock, horror, physical access to the machine gives you a root shell! Don't like that? Encrypt your drive, nothing else is anything more than a minor hinderance.
