On my daughter's pc I have my account as admin and her account is normal user account. I set it up like this for security reasons as she is only 9.

I've forgotten my password, any way of resetting it from my daughter's account or is it reinstall whole system time.

you used to be able to use lophtcrack, or some kind of rescue bootdisk that could wipe the SAM file or something. Decades since I did it.

maybe
  • Hiren's BootCD PE: A popular "Swiss Army knife" of Windows rescue tools, Hiren's BootCD PE is a bootable Windows PE (Preinstallation Environment) that includes a graphical utility (like NTPWEdit) for resetting passwords stored in the SAM database. Instructions and download links are available on the Hiren's BootCD PEwebsite.

or a linux cd.

  • Boot your computer with Hiren's BootCD PE.
  • Goto Start Menu -> Security -> Passwords -> NT Password Edit
  • Open your SAM file (It is usually located in C:\Windows\System32\config\SAM).
  • Click your username and the click 'Change password'. To set a password, type your password both 'New password' and 'Verify' fields and then click to 'OK'. To remove the password, leave both 'New password' and 'Verify' fields blank and then click to 'OK'.

Lazesoft password recovery.

Install that to a bootable USB, from there you can enable the admin account (or just reset your password if its not a microsoft account)
