Hi,

If I install a 3800+ dual core in my machine (currently have a 3500 single core) .. will I need or should I format?

Cheers
Andy

You dont need to, but I would recommend it.

Fresh start, with the latest drivers should make the system perform better

So the repair function would be sufficient?

Maybe I should just format .. so there is less chance of problems in the future or does the repair function do the same thing?

Just create a backup image of the current system installation, install the new CPU and see what happens.

If it goes **** up, you can simply restore the back image and all is not lost.

I absolutely hate re-installing windows and installing all of my programs. Will do it only as a last resort.
