Hi guys.
I have a seagate 3tb hard drive, I also have a kingston 480gb ssd drive for windows os 8.1.
I use steam to buy my games, and d/load and install games to the seagate 3tb drive
I am upgrading my motherboard, cpu, ram, and will have to reinstall windows, which means formatting ssd drive.
Q... will I have to reinstall “the division” or what ?
I log onto steam account, and press play and it does the rest, I then get murdered by those cold hearted moth^*&, sons of B&*@!”}(&^ rogues.... sorry lost it a bit there ;)
any help would be appreciated, it's been a grind to get where I am, (the division)I wouldn't want to start all over again, some actually applauded over my dead decaying body, you moth$%^&+
you know who you are …...............I have no issues honestly. :)

Many thanx

Yup just re-point Steam to the 3TB directory.

You may need to verify some games from time to time. Also be sure to backup Your documents folder in case any games are saving there and not in the cloud/Steam directory :)

You can just copy steam.exe to that folder where your games are installed, after formatting, just double click the exe and it reinstalls steam and auto picks up on the games.

Your save games are likely in your Documents directory which defaults to the C drive, make sure to back that up. I just did the same thing and accidentally lost my JC3 save game, doh!

Isn't most of the save in the cloud anyway to prevent cheating?
As soon as you log in you'll regain anything you may have lost after a format.
For example I've just got a new PC and reinstalled Elite. The saves are all tied with my account and I didn't need to do anything apart from re-download the game.

Unless you have went into the individual games properties and un-selected save to cloud, in which case all save files will be saved into a local drive

No a LOT of games don't use cloud saves. A lot of posts pop up on here ranting about how cloud had not worked when they wiped there c drive and yet they didn't check if it saved online.

Arrrrrhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ****

I re-installed Windows yesterday, completely forgot to backup my saved games!!!

I'm at work at the moment and haven't reinstalled Steam yet, guess I'll find out later how much I've lost :(

Many thanx guys, relieved to say the least.
err.... if I added 2 ssd drives later in raid 0, would this f*k up everything, I read that 2 ssd drives in raid 0 helps games run faster.
any help in this area would be appreciated, although I don't have the ssd drives yet ........

Not all save data is stored in My Documents. Some save in a subfolder inside the game directory, some buried in obscure places like a folder in user/appdata/ or such place. I use steams cloud storage but do keep a manual backup for some games too.
