format hd in win xp

hi need to restore my comp just have 1 hard drive and i cant find a way to start from scratch with a clean system cant seem to get going this is my spec Win XP pro Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

I take it you built the machine yourself? You should have a windows CD from when you first installed. Your need to put that in and boot from it to format and reinstall

thanks yes i did build it my self and i have had a lot of trouble with my mother board and before i send it back for the second time i want to try it from scratch so i boot from the install disk (XP) what do i type in ? thanks ben
 
Just boot from the cd like when you installed windows for the first time.
Go to install, when you chose the hard drive format your drive to wipe it then install
