format laptop help ?

Hi All I want to know how do i format a hard drive in a Dell D630 laptop and re-install windows 7 can i do this if so how ? thanks :confused:

Boot off the windows 7 CD, when it loads you'll have the option to format the drive before installing windows.

thanks but when i put the windows 7 disc in and boot up it just goes into the windows password screen :confused:

That means your not booting from the CD. You need to set the boot order to CD first in the bios:

Ok thanks i have changed that to boot up the dvd -rw cd rom 1st and HHD 2nd how many things should boot up in a laptop bios i seem to have 4 marked ? :confused:

Once you've finished installing just change the boot order back to the original setting.
