I had a Sapphire R9 290X Tri-X which I bought with all the Mantle hype and sold it at a hefty price to a bitcoin miner because I was not happy with it's performance. Now I bought a Zotac GTX 980 AMP Extreme Edition and it will arrive tomorrow. My question is do I need to format my pc and setup win 8.1 for a clean install or would using ddu be enough? I have 5 games from Uplay and that is why I am avoiding a format as there is no guaranteed way of backing up your games. Do you guys know how to back up Uplay games like registry hacks or something?

Also it would be nice to hear if this card I ordered is good or bad? It looks great imo and comes with a factory OC but I couldn't find a good review of this card online anywhere so I am undecided whether to keep it or ask for a refund.

Uninstall as normal via the AMD driver suite if the drivers are still installed, manually delete any remaining AMD/ATI folders, then run DDU. Download & install the Nvidia drivers and you're good to go.

Yes, you must expunge the cursed AMD filth from your machine and cleanse it with holy water before installing the blessed Nvidia software.
The only way to achieve this is to completely wipe your drive and start from scratch. Better yet, burn it and buy a new drive.

On second thoughts, perhaps DDU will do just fine :)

I'm just kidding, you nutters.

+1 for DDU

Tbh I am just lucky enough to sell my amd card at 450 dollars so I figured I could go for the most expensive NV offering with air cooling and would avoid a format at all costs if possible but I am just worried ddu won't delete all the junk and maybe even delete some useful stuff. Previously I just uninstalled all catalyst sw for a driver update but going from one vendor to other worries me for any incompatibility.

If all else fails,

Cardinal Gregster is on call 24/7 on the NVidia spirital hotline (Tel No 666 666 666) and is available in person to exorcise any AMD filth found on your PC.

Like all NVidia services this will also exorcise a large amount of money from your wallet.

I'm sorry this will not do! Your pc has already been tainted with AMD hardware and software. You need to eradicate that machine by any means necessary and start fresh. nvidia do not do sloppy seconds!

there's at least on review, and he's not very complimentary: http://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/1666-zotac-gtx-980-extreme-benchmark-review-overclocking

that said, if you're not overclocking then it might not concern you, it has one of the highest factory overclocks and will probably boost into the region of 1450mhz stock.

As for backing up Uplay games, you should be able to just copy the game folders and as long as Uplay isn't horrendously useless it will detect the files and use them.

Steam and origin do it really well.
