format old hdd to dos bootable,

i only have xp, and w7 machines lying about but I need to copy wfwg from a broken machine to a new one... acronis give me a non booting dos so i need to format it so it boots dos (then i can somply copy wfwg)

- its the control PC for a £30,000 milling machine before anyone asks about why wfwg!

Has Acronis copied everything across but just not made it bootable?

format /s will copy the system files onto the disk but I can't remember whether that just copies the files or whether it does a proper format as well. You may need to boot from a DOS boot floppy first to get the right system files.
