Hi when you format windows 7 home with service pack 1 and go to install new updates for 1st time. The up dates has around 188 in it which one is service pack 1. Do you need to install this as the dvd is already at service pack 1 or is the windows update a newer version to the service or same one as on disc already installed from when you 1st formatted and installed windows?.

Thanks.

the latest version of W7 is SP1, they are not going to be doing anymore service packs due to other OS's coming out.

after you install windows 7 SP1 you will get 188 updates and then get more once these are installed.

after a reboot you will mostprob get more updates.

the only other way to so this is if you create your own OS disk with the updates on.

I did this and my windows 7 professional 64 bit OS disk is 4.14GB but this stops me from having to install the many updates after a format.

I haven't tested my updated os disk yet, may give it a try on a VM come to think of it......
