Hi guys, I formatted my PC not so long ago so everything was wiped off the C drive. I am now running a fresh install of Win 7 with all the programs I need, and I have just installed the latest itunes.

Now then, this may be a really silly question but I am always very cautious when it comes to using itunes, so I'd prefer to ask here first then try it and mess it up.

If I connect my iphone as it is, with all apps, mp3 files on there to my PC it is instantly recognised in itunes. However, it is not synced, therefore I do not see the phone content in itunes (obviously) since it is a new install. How do I sync them so everything is copied across?

If I press 'sync' in itunes under the apps tab, I am sure it will wipe the iphone completely clean which I do not want, or am I mistaken?

Use a Free piece of Software called SharePod. has worked flawlessly for me using iPod Touches and iPod Photo's.

Sharepod seems like an alternative to itunes. I don't require an alternative, I just need to know how to sync my iphone with itunes!

Loads of people must have done this?

If you format you lose your iTunes library key (on your PC installation) and as such if you want to manage apps and music from your PC you need to take everything off then put it back on again. It's a complete ****take.

At least this is how I understand it, iTunes is a POS and partly why I ditched iPhone. The syncing stuff is incredibly dumb.

The way I did it was if I formatted my PC I would just manage apps on my phone instead and take all the music off then put it back on. Very annoying.

There is an Option to copy all files from your phone, to your PC. It was the only option when i last used it.

this happened to me as well when i got an ssd for the os. i was well pi**ed when i found out itunes did not list all apps i purchased when i logged in.

Seems like quite an obvious huge flaw, I am surprised Apple haven't addressed it. Everything is already stored on my iPhone I just wish to sync it with a fresh install of iTunes. Any iTunes users have any advice?

Hi, I use iTunes under OSX, not Windows, but as long as you backup your phone BEFORE synching, then you'll be able to keep all your apps, music, etc. on your phone. :) Just double check the preferences in iTunes before plugging in your phone...

Once it's backed up, try using the 'transfer purchases' feature.

transfer purchases does nothing for a lot of peeps, also apple does not consider this to be a flaw people have been moaning about it for a long time. stupid really. where somat like steam we just log ing and you can redownload past purchases, why cant itunes have that.
