Formatted today and

I have a 250gb SATA HDD i formatted properly not the quick one, i have just noticed for some reason it says i have 116gb left! i have hardly anything installed i got no idea where the other 120gb has gone! I dont have system restore or anything on my docs is 1gb :s

Any ideas? thats awful

windows xp (pre sp1 and sp2) only recognises 128gb or something like that. you need to install the service packs for the rest of the space to be usable. it will have to be another partition though unless you use something like partition magic to extend your current one.

did you install sp2 after installing windows? if you did, then you should be able to use disk management (start, run, diskmgmt.msc) to create a new partition and get your remaining space. or use partition magic to extend your current c drive to take up all the space. not free though....

if your windows cd is already at sp2, then it should have recognised the whole drive during setup....
