Formatting a hard drive without installing an OS?

put it as a slave in another pc, and format from windows

or use something like ultimatebootcd.com to do it, tons of useful tools on there

Hi I have a copy of UBCD on a bootable cd, booted up but couldnt see the option to 'format' ?

Just load one of the manufacturer specific utils on the disk.

I do almost all of my formatting/wiping/partitioning using Gparted on the Live CD for Ubuntu Linux. The GUI makes it so easy.

Either a DOS boot disk works wonders in such situations, or if you don't have a floppy disc/drive then USB pen drive will boot on most modern motherboards. Failing that shove it in another PC an format as described above.

Cheers guys, basically all I need to do is remove the operating system for someone as he isnt licenseed to have it, just the HDD ready to be installed with an OS.
