Formatting a tablet PC

This may seem like a stupid question for those in the know, but here goes...

I have a tablet PC, provided by my University. It's almost 3 years old, and has never been formatted. The hard drive is in two partitions; the main partition has the OS, programs, etc. on it. The second partition has 3 .ghs files and 1 .gho file.

To get everything back to its original settings, is it just a matter of installing Norton Ghost (or a similar product) on the tablet, and running these files somehow? I've never had to do anything like this before. I know the University has docks into which you can plug DVD drives and whatnot, but I've visited the tech office several times and there's never anyone around, so I want to just go ahead and sort it out myself.

Any help/experience appreciated!
