formatting mp3 on pc

So my mp3 is very low on storage space i used to have 2 gig it somehow decreased to 20kb. Just wondered what would happen if i right clicked and selected format in the mp3 drive section, will it do the job and restore me space?

It might do but then again it might get rid of the filesystem. Is there no manual for it? I'd suggest just deleting the MP3's.

This is an MP3 player, right? If so, what kind is it? Might there be a hidden trash directory that is full of files you removed but did not completely delete? Formatting it would nuke the filesystem, of course, after which you would have to reload all your files. So it would work but since you didn't know what the problem was in the first place it might happen again.
