Ok so I’ve just received my new WD raptor I’ve installed windows on it all fine and dandy but when coming format this HD it won’t let me.

I’ve got my windows CD in and I’ve set in the bios CD ROM as my first boot device but it won’t get that far as it comes up with a list saying "start in safe mode or normal" etc and I can’t stop it from doing that.

Sorry I’m a bit of a noob when it comes to this as this is the first time I’ve set up two HD's, I have no idea if ive done it right (by the way I’m going obviously not) any way ive got both HD’s connected via SATA but when I turned on my pc it always booted up from my old HD not my raptor so I couldn’t format it.

Can someone please help me? :(

Cheers

EDIT\ Please move this if its more suited to the hard drives forum

If your installing on to that drive, just leave only the Raptor plugged in, boot up from the CD, insert SATA driver disk, format drive.

Else boot into Windows, right-click My Computer > Management > Disk Management > Format

Hey, to boot from a cd you need to tell your computer to try to boot from the cd rom first. You need to change a few settings in the BIOS. You can also tell the system which order to try and boot the HD's from.
