As title above,

What happens when I format my PC to which my iPod is linked to ?

I know that when I plug my iPod in I will have to wipe it but is there a way i can backup all my Itunes data before the format. Like apps, all playlists and I'd really like to backup data such as recently played and most played if possible. I've coping the iTunes folder which covers app, don't know what else i can do.

Can i then copy the apps back into the relevant folder without having to download them again ? There mainly free as I've only had my iPod a few weeks.

Any comments welcomed !

You can set your iPod (via itunes) to manual syncing of music and or everything else, that way you'll be able to format without having to start fresh with your iPod.

I've set my iPod classic to work like this (as well as my iPhone) and I haven't had start from scratch with my iPod since I first put the music on it.

But would i then not be able to sync new music ?

Won't need the format but just think its good to know for future reference.

No, you can still sync music, it's on a drag and drop basis.

To me, it's much better than the other method.

You buy a new album, download it, drag and drop it to your iPod's library in itunes.

Basically if a format comes you loose everything, as I love it on automatic.

If you have apps on your iTunes can you add them to your Ipod and Iphone or can they only be one one device ? (paid and free)

No effect if you do it the right way. Copy your ENTIRE 'iTunes' folder from your music folder to an external device. Reformat and reinstall iTunes. Load up iTunes and run through the initial set-up, skipping 'add MP3/AAC/WMAs'. When you get iTunes up close it down and delete the newly created 'iTunes' folder, replacing it with your old folder. Load iTunes back up and it'll be as it was pre-reformat :).

Will that save info such as recently played, most played and the amount of times listened to a track?
