Formatting questions

Hi
I am selling my old PC to a friend but want to delete all the data off the disc, so its basically a new hard drive.
Will formatting delete everything, but leave windows 7 on there, or will it delete windows 7 off there as well?
 
In the windows 7 install process you get the option to format the drive, so what i'd do is load up a USB with w7, then when you get to the choice of drive to install on click 'Advanced options', choose the hard-drive, format it then press delete and it'll set it as unformatted space.

Then just install a fresh copy of windows 7 on that space.
All of your data will be gone, and you might be able to squeeze an extra £70 out of your mate for windows 7! ;)
