Formatting with out a Floppy drive.

Boot from the Windows cd, enter the Recovery Console, and type format c:

Just make sure that the drive you want to format is drive c. Might be best to disconnect any other hard drives before attempting it.

Thanks. Ill do that as soon as my CD lets me :(

http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

download that, if its exe or zip you download, extract the file, it'll be an 'iso' file, burn that with imgburn or a burning tool (nero can do it) -burn is AS an image, don't simply burn the file to disc..

reboot pc, and you'll get a menu, go into hard drive tools or something like that, then format the disc

-might want to run 'memtest' from that disc too, usually xp setup conking out is either memory, power, hard drive, cables or damaged cd

How far does the Windows cd boot before throwing up?

It gets up to "Windows Start up" Or "windows set up"

I forget what its called.

Its just after its finished installing the little components when you first put it in and boot from the Disk, Like the RAID controls and AGP controls and crap like that.

I'd try the GParted live CD.

It's a linux based partition manager and will let you do whatever you want to your hard drive.

before you try what i suggested, make sure there's no usb hard drives or pens in, then try again -try leaving it, it might be working without letting you know..

-failing that, just download UBCD, its real handy anyway

Thanks all.

Since its past 5 AM im gonna go to bed now and come back to this tomorrow. :)

Thanks again :)

Edit: Forgot to say, Theres no USB pens or drives in the computer
