try get into recovery console then
CHK DSK/P
FIXBOOT
FIXMBR

I did chkdsk /r I think it was and it found one or more errors on the disk, not sure what they are.

And i'll have a go at those when i'm out of my strop of last night

chk dsk/p should detect and FIX any disk problems
probally all you need but usually use the other 2 as well(however i can`t be held responsible if your disk gets fubared)

Well i've done those three and now doing a full fomat on a 320GB HD, this could take a while

Edit: Okay, finally finished the full format after 1-2hours, Windows setup files were copied over and the computer rebooted.
