The changes agreed will include:

* a front wing of reduced width, down from from 1800mm to 1650mm

* a much shallower rear wing, similar to those used at the high-speed Monza track

* significantly lower noses on the cars to improve safety, although the exact maximum height has still to be determined

* the retention of the moveable rear wing - or drag-reduction system (DRS) - that was introduced this season to make overtaking a little easier

* a restriction on all the extra pieces of bodywork that have sprouted in front of the sidepods of the cars

* a restriction on the design of front-wing endplates, to limit the intricate designs seen today

* a plan to increase wheel diameter from 13 inches to 18 inches has been delayed until at least 2014

Does this mean that the engines are still changing or has this been canned as well?

Those rules aren't to bad for me, other than DRS retention, no need this season, let alone with even further reduced dirty air.

I liked the original rules though:
Reduction in front and rear wings as well as intricatey.
Ground effect
Derestricted kers
Derestricted engines. But with a maximum fuel flow, rpm, capacity etc.

It would have been sweeeeeetttt

And can we please for the love of god get rid of compulsory usage of both compounds.

Jean Todt is pushing for the new engines which no one wants, I hope this time FOTA break away from the FIA.

And watch them all implode and spend the next 50 years arguing over everything. They would never agree to a set of rules, they never agree on anything.

This is how the fia gets them to actually make changes, chucjs a set of rules and regs at them so they get the hump. They then sit round and try to come up with alternatives.

"The only point of contention between Fota and the FIA has been on the tunnelled floor, having a shaped undertray," Michael said.

"Everything else is pretty much the FIA proposal, or pretty close to it with just some tweaks.

Usual game of cat and mouse until the teams agree on something and try to make out it was all their idea.

Yeah but seriously watching Seb go from pole to finish without breaking a sweat is dull. Watching him try to carve up the field will be hugely better!

Wasn't fair at Brazil last year when Hulkenberg stole pole with a lucky tyre choice as the track dried - not representative of the cars pace at all!

They all had a chance, so fair.
Time trials you get a slot and that's that. We don't need any more un fairness in f1. I say bring back one hour qauli. So what if no one comes out for 30mins. Time to chat about what's going on, news, pits, tech.

Please define "no one", as all the car makers except Ferrari and Mercedes are well up for 1.6 Turbos.

They only people to have voiced an opinion on not wanting the new engines are Ferrari, Mercedes and Bernie. Hardly 'no one' wanting them?

The one hour qually was terrible. The current system is far better and rewards consistency as well as speed.

This. The current system gives an hour of interesting watching. The old system provided 30 minutes of track time, with about 5 minutes of interesting watching.

And also, I belive there is a seperate thread for the "F1 was better in the old days" whingers. This is about the 2013 regulation.

Do people really think the 1 hour qualifying was any good? There was 5-10 minutes of action at the end of it, and the rest of it consisted of waiting until that last few minutes.

Can we kill that joker, skin him, sew you 'inside' him and put you in charge? Those rules would be awesome.

To be fair when I watch it at work with a crew room full of people just about everyone pays no attention apart from the build up and then then Q3. Just about everyone feels it's just padding until you get to the interesting bit and that's really only ever going to be one run on these tyres.

It would be better with more tyre allocation because people might have more goes, or if the compounds were not useless after 3/4's of a lap, I miss it when someone used to be able to get pole by doing another hot lap.

I liked the old 1 hour format, it just needed more laps and loss of laps every 15 minutes. Start with 16 laps available and lose 4 every 15 mins for example.
