Formula Boinc - Sprint #6 from 23/05/2019 22:00 (UTC) to 26/05/2019 21:59 (UTC)

Is amicable worth running on the CPU?

Is it worth running the GPU should have been the question as the performance now is pants to what it was, I see why from what pdw said.

I Couldn't work out what to run last night and it was late so I've just started now running open as I'm only getting 8 tasks before reaching my limit.

The tasks on the CPU are multi-threaded aren't they, how many are you running per WU ?

The maximum, I've not tested splitting the cores. The 72t is doing them in 600 secs each. The 56t twice as slow which is not right but that's on windows so I'll try it on Linux in a bit.

Good evening.
Greetings from beyond the channel...

Hopefully this sprint will be going a bit more, how to put it --- amicable? --- than the previous one.

Re errors, I had two tasks dying yesterday with "SIGSEV: segmentation violation". I suspect it had to do with me accidentally exceeding the available RAM and swap.

Welcome :)

If only this project was more amicable !

I haven't uploaded any, they could all be bad
I had to wait for some NFS tasks to finish on all the boxes after finding how much memory the AN tasks wanted. It's possible the early ones I moved over could have run short, nothing stalled so I'm hopeful.

Well, well, well, this makes a pleasant change :)

We are currently in second place after the first hourly update...
