took a gamble today and brought this album (The Rising Tied) and it rocks, this is the first hip-hop album I've enjoy'd since the late nineties, tracks 3(Right Now), 6(Where'd You Go) and 16(Out The Back) are amazing, this album is not like your typical bland R&B samey sounding junk that new hip-hop sound has become.

there's been about 3/4 threads on this album. general consensus was that it's a bit crap, and Mike Shinoda definitely should quit the day job.

i don't like it tbh...it's flat and boring. not really what i look for in a hip-hop album.

That's a good point actually, modern Hip Hop/Rap has kind of lost itself and is heading in a R&B direction, sadly.

However, Fort Minor are not the answer as Sic has explained previously. To be honest I can't suggest a whole lot of current artists to check out in their place, but who said you have to just listen to music released in the last 6 months?

Some guys I recommended to Sic recently that he seems to be liking:

Mobb Deep (early)
Gang Starr
The Pharcyde
Pete Rock & CL Smooth
Talib Kweli's collaborations with Hi Tek & Mos Def (although his more recent solo work stinks)
Common (early)
The Roots
