...so over the past couple of days I've been ordering PC parts to build a Fortress as after advice on these forums, the Zalman was clearly not such a wise choice.

Some arrived yesterday, others arrived today and then when I had everything planned to start the build the damn missus wanted to go out...

After midnight, with a box of goodies to build and going to be out all day tomorrow - so frustrating, especially as this is my 1st ever build. :(

I hate that when your things arrive and you can't do anything with them!

Looks like a nice box full of nice things :D Can you give it to me? ;)

Haha! You joke about coffee, but it was one thing I considered, but roll on tomorrow...

As this is my 1st build, I really want to get this right - so expect pictures etc when done just to prove that even fools like myself can string a case together.

One thing that I would like to do is put sleaving on braiding on the cables. I've done some searching and there is plastic type wrap, but that just looks poor to me. I think I want to go down the nice and tidy cable route as soon as possible, but obviously not this weekend as I'll never get what I need in time.

Is there a braiding kit that can be brought for Overclockers? I've done searching but cannot find it.

Nice box of goodies. What you got there?

Shame you can't put it together immediately

We have the SilverStone Fortress FT101 case (and what fantastic build quality on this). So glad to the people on this site steering me away from my initial choice for this, looks and feels absolutely brilliant.

In the box, I have...

PSU
850W Silverstone SST-DA850

Keyboad / Mouse
Logitech G19 Gaming Keyboard 2xUSB
Logitech MX 400 Laser Mouse, 1000dp

Processor / Cooling
Intel Core i7 920, D0 (SLBEJ) - S13
Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme 1366

Motherboard / Memory
Asus P6T Deluxe V2, Intel X58, SLi
12GB (6x2GB) Corsair XMS3 DDR3, PC3

Graphics
1GB XFX HD 4890, PCI-E 2.0 (x16)

Drives
2 x 1Tb Hitachi Deskstar SATA-2
LG Blu-Ray / HD-DVD / DVD RW Sata Drive

...in the post, I have the NZXT Sentry LX.

I plan to get hopefully an external memory card reader if I can find one that looks good enough, otherwise I'll get one for the 5.25 bay if it comes down to it.

I need to get some kind of braiding kit to do the cables neatly and nicely and perhaps replace the fan on the fans across the whole case so everything matches (if I am looking to waste cash!).

Future plans beyond that will be a good sound card to repalce the systemboard sound and new monitor and speaker set. Currently have a Dell 24", but it looks like it's been through the wars as it was not in the best state when I got it 2nd hand!

Yeah braiding kits aren't impossible to find - ACRyan make some nice kits, but tbh you'd be better off getting the braid and heatshrink individually and doing it that way as you only get what you need.

That's surely gonna be one nice rig once you've got it all up and running - looking forward to seeing those pics!:)
