You can do that for a certain amount of time after you've posted a new thread, providing no one has posted a reply. T'is quite useful, but not many people know about it.

You double clicked near the thread title, in the 'box' around it.

For mods it is. Can't speak for other regular posters, but it's pretty rare that I need to edit my own thread titles. Nice touch for those occasions which I do though.
