Hi guys,

I'm after some advice on which forum software to use. Basically we have a website for local bikers to post on which is currently using phpbb2 but is getting quite old now and we are getting far too much spam posted, even with all the verification features and security mods installed.

I know vbulletin is good like ocuk but its not cheap? If anyone knows good, free/cheap, secure forum software, please advise me and I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks in advance

Just to let you know, phpBB 3 is a massive improvement over phpBB 2, it's still in beta stages, but should be worth the wait.

How long we gotta wait?

Ok then, at least a year.

Whatever it is, I see no point waiting. Better to use an established system...it's always possible to convert.

That comment wasn't aimed at you, it was right between the eyes of the developers!! :D

Been looking at moving to SMF for a while but if phpbb3 was only a month away i would have waited - i'm in no rush!

Oh :D

They probably have news on their site somewhere but if it comes out within a month without major issues I'll eat my hat :)
