Forums and translation

Anyone know if it is possible to create a forum with some sort of translator attched to the post function ?

Even better would be if it would also autotranslate posts by usergroup ie UsergroupUK would see English but UsergroupFrance french ?

I think both vBulletin and IPB have plug-ins available for that sort of thing.

There are a few basic translation mods, but the OP's objective seems a little unrealistic/impractical.

Sounds like he wants a forum that anyone can read regardless of language.

Yeah it's a very difficult thing to do unless you have google translate embedded but then you'll get some posts that just appear as translated gibberish. You'll find that if it's a forum in English you'll only get people who can read/write English anyway. People tend to be quite territorial when it comes to forums.

Well the purpose of the forum is a gaming guild so I would like to try and cater to European players who might not have great English skills.

I have some programing skills though don't know any web languages in particular, so I hopefully would be able to modifiy the forum in some way as to serve my purpose.

So given that what type of forum would I be best trying to work with as my basic framework?

You can talk to google translate programmatically, though IIRC it's now a paid service and there are usage limits.
