due to no internet i've not been around much for the last couple of months but i have had internet all this weekend and have been perusing a few subsections and i can't believe how dead it is. i just had a look in General hardware and there are posts on the first page from 2 days ago? i've never seen anything like that before and i've been here on and off for 10 years. there have always been endless pages of new "spec me" threads being posted 24/7.

even the weekend football thread in sports arena hasn't been posted in since 21:55 last night. has everyone been banned? :p

I think it is mainly because people have lives outside of the forums!!

i've heard of this thing called outside but it scares me. :(

i do remember when i was into gaming a few years back and i was playing some game on probably the hottest day of the year and the forums were jammed with people moaning about how their pcs were overheating. :p

However, the userbase is still growing, we get new users joining everyday. The MM is super active

you're certainly right about the MM. i did use it to sell some bits a few weeks back and if you don't get any interest in that first hour or 2, your thread soon disappears out of sight.

Maybe because people are in bed and no football is on at 5AM..

Nail, head, hit.

try reading the first post again. i specifically mentioned the general hardware section having posts from friday on the first page. ok it was only sunday morning when i posted but in times gone by, you'd be lucky to see posts older than a hour or two on page 1. it was always active 24/7 even when the normal(!) folk in GD go to bed. these posts were some 40 odd hours old.

i see there have been additions like separate forums for PSUs/printers since i was last a regular but they don't seem particularly active to explain that kind of downturn.
