Sure this has been asked before, can’t seem to find the answer so not putting the correct search parameters into google or something, but those forward facing speed cameras…

Few say they don’t flash, and when you drive past three white lines, this is when they take your picture… But I remember being caught last year with one, and it did flash and I don’t remember seeing the white lines..

Confused, if you see a forward facing camera, with three white lines, does it flash, and does it only work when you cross or put your front wheels on the first of the three lines?

Sorry, just trying to educate myself with them, passed one today, and it got me thinking…

Cheers..

foward facing is a different brand of camera to the gatso's i think they are called truvo.

Any who i dont believe they flash unless it is dark, during the day they do not

I know with a few cameras near me there aren't white lines in the middle of the lanes, but small markers on either side of the lanes, which are less obvious, so you might not have noticed any for that reason?

Ahh yes that's the one, also the one that got me a few months back, it did flash but then it was dark. That'll explain it, marking might have been near the kerb as mentioned...

The one I passed today, had clearly visible three white lines across the road.

Thanks for clearing this up, anything to try and ensure I don't get caught out.. lol

they do flash as i saw a car drive through one whether it only used the infra-red section of the light i dont know but there was a purple flash. and it was very visible from the side of the road.

Yes, 100% sure it flashed, it was impossible to miss. I knew I'd been caught, took about three days for the NIP to drop thought the letterbox...

We have to reply on the chav population to smash them up.

The average ones are the most worrying. One day they'll be able to tell your average speed from driving from London to, say, Scotland.

nope, but it does seem strange then that some places are using them predominately if they are ineffective against bikes, its like waving a red rag....

Similar to them stupid speed awareness things that tell you your actual speed, they are just accidents waiting to happen.
