I have a gmail account and also a business email account but its a pain to access(nightmare though phone and just isnt nice to use) so i have a question.

Is it possible to have my emails from my business email forwarded to gmail email?

This way i can check/receive notifications for business email via gmail account.

The business email is run by 1&1 .

Yes, your control panel on 1&1 should allow you to set up forwarders, if you're very lucky you might be able to send out via your domains smtp server too, depends on the type of authentication 1&1 use.

What do you mean about if your lucky and domains smtp server ect??

I have checked the 1&1 and sadly its being a pain in the balls as i cannot forward emails to other accounts unless i "sign up for the special mailmax programme costing £10 a month".....

any ideas?

You can setup gmail to pull down emails from POP servers: Settings > Accounts > Check mail using POP3

It works really well, I have all of my emails pulling into one gmail account. Something that is strange about it though is the interval that it polls is seemingly random, sometimes it polls every minute, other times I've seen it go as high as 50 minutes.

So you saying i can have my emails from my 1&1 account "pulled" into my Gmail inbox ?

If so what information do i need ?

As when i checked 1&1 you can only sync mail with phone/other account if you have that stupid "special premium account"....hopefully this "pull" method byepasses this

Yeah you can do that, I do it on my gmail account. Do as Midget^ said and go to settings - accounts and import. I set mine up to send through a different domain as well. Just click "add a pop3 email account" and follow the instructions.

You can also tell gmail to apply a label to the fetched emails, say "Business", "Work" or whatever you want.

Strange, i've had my 1&1 hosted domain emails forwarded to gmail for years, and i don't pay more than the basic domain hosting.

i just tried now using "mail fetcher" and it says
There was a problem connecting to mail.masletmutes.com
Server returned error: "We were unable to locate the other domain. Please contact your other provider."

I wrote down the username as the email as there isnt a username i believe or aware of.

Then the POP server i wrote as the email address and the port i let gmail fill in.

any ideas why it not work?
